Relief assistance
Freight subsidies
Freight subsidies of up to $5000 per disaster event are available for eligible primary producers located within a disaster-declared area under joint Commonwealth/State Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA), or where a primary producer has a current Individual Disaster Stricken Property (IDSP) declaration.
Individual primary producers suffering extensive property damage are invited to contact DPI&F's Business Information Centre to arrange for an IDSP inspection by a departmental officer.
Depending on the nature of the disaster and the damage that has occurred, freight subsidies in disaster-declared areas, or where producers have an IDSP declaration, will be made available for the movement of materials such as:
- emergency fodder
- building, fencing materials, machinery and equipment movements
- animals purchased for restocking
- water
- fuel
Note: A 'primary producer' is a person who spends the majority of their labour on, and derives the majority of their income from, a primary production enterprise.
