Licensing and permits
A person who sprays agricultural chemicals by aircraft, or uses ground equipment to spray herbicides to control weeds on land that they do not own or occupy, is required to be licensed under legislation administered by the Department of Primary Industries & Fisheries (DPI&F). The business for which the person undertakes the spraying is also required to be licensed. A special permit is required when applying certain volatile agricultural chemical products in declared hazardous areas.
